The story

Frederick Stanton died in 1859, only months after moving into his finished Greek Revival mansion. House staff and pilgrimage volunteers have told of footsteps in the upstairs hall at closing, latched doors found open and a feeling of being watched in the rear parlor, which local tradition credits to Stanton.

Visitors. Open to the public (house tours).
