The story

Residents of this University of Michigan dorm have joked for decades that Helen Handy Newberry still haunts it, and her portrait at the back stairs is said to watch people climb. They blame her for slamming doors, footsteps in empty halls, and the second-floor hand dryers going off at once in the small hours.

Visitors. Exterior viewing only (residence hall; interior restricted).
